Let's honour the modern father

Cambridge. 12 May 2015. - The modern day father comes in various forms. Today’s father is no longer always the traditional, married breadwinner and disciplinarian in the family. He may leave the house to go to work or work from home, he can be single or married; gay or straight; a biological, adoptive or step-parent; and a more than capable caregiver to children facing the physical or psychological challenges of growing up.

Well into the nineteenth century, fathers’ roles were primarily to serve as breadwinners and the conveyors of moral values and religious education to their offspring. However, with the advent of industrialisation and urbanisation and as factories emerged as major sources of employment, several generations of fathers became distanced from the household and their families.

Family patterns in the post-industrial society are changing again. With a large proportion of mothers leaving home - many becoming the main breadwinner- the arrival of the Internet and distant working opportunities, many modern fathers' roles involve them much more in the home.

When celebrating fatherhood, it is time to remember that like any other member of the family, fathers too have their own interests and lives.  Despite the changes in the male role, the contemporary debate recognizes men commonly as being competitive and with a greater need to ream. Even many modern fathers follow sport events in a group of friends. What could the loving football fan enjoy more than his own 'World Cup ware'?

A personalised sport bottle with own photographs and texts for the gym or a bike ride or a traditional one pint beer mug with photo on-print are presents for Dads with a difference. Creating a unique supporter shirt, caps or a BBQ apron for a World-Cup-Party at home is fun. For the bread winner who leaves to his office a crystal pen holder block with a laser engraved photograph will avoid having to leave the family totally back home.

The ideal modern father is the one who parents from his heart and models respect towards his children’s mother, who wears a photo apron too and can be seen using a mop, a washing machine, or any home appliance that was taboo in past generations, one who thinks his responsibility as a father is more than bread-winning and disciplining, one who cares not just for the physical needs but bonds with his children and supports their emotional needs.

Every Nursery, School And Family Should Play Its Own ‘Face Picture Pairs’ Card Game

Specialists recommend every family, nursery and school to test children for face perception disorders with a personalised picture pairs card game with faces of classmates or family.

Based on recent scientific reports, it is now recommended to test children more widely for prosopagnosia, generally known as face blindness. A creative tool to test for face blindness are bespoke picture pairs card games. These card games are sold under the name 'Foto Memo'® and promote the mental development, sorting, mental image rotation, matching and develop memory skills. Encoding of novel picture pairs activates the perirhinal cortex (a region of the brain involved in visual perception and memory) and is a real memory jogger for all ages.

Other photo products recommended by neurologists to families, nurseries and schools are birthday calendars, photo books and group photographs. Read more in the report http://iitm.be/faceblnd , with much information on the issue and many helpful recommendations on how to use portrait pictures to diagnose prosopagnosia and help sufferers.

Match the picture pairs of familiar faces
Printing a personal ‘Foto Memo’® picture pairs game from digital images is as easy as buying photo prints online. A set of ‘Foto Memo’® cards of 25 picture pairs costs only £12.99 plus £2.99 delivery at http://fotoinsight.co.uk/gifts/toys---games/picture-pairs-game.html within the UK (or €16.99 plus €4.99 delivery from http://fotoinsight.ie/gift-ideas/toys-and-games/photo-memo.html to Ireland and most European countries). For prosopagnosia sufferers, such picture pairs cards can also be used like flashcards in training vocabulary, but with the pictures of the faces of the people they want to learn to recognise.

Decorating with portrait pictures
Portrait pictures of pupils, educators, teachers and staff decorate many school halls and classrooms. They help face blind children develop strategies to distinguish individual faces. For the prosopagnosia sufferers, specialists recommend making group pictures of similar looking faces. FotoInsight offers poster print (from £1,99 plus p&p), fancy gallery print, foam board prints, acrylic prints and elegant aluminium dibond mounted posters.

Birthday calendars
Calendars with birthday portraits decorate many classrooms and are a special way to remember and celebrate birthdays.

Portrait album
If portrait pictures have been taken for the home, classroom, school gallery or picture pairs or a birthday calendar, then creating a “face book” or portrait album will be an exciting project and is easily done. FotoInsight photographic paper photo albums are a top end product, with an extra-strong bind. This allows children (e.g. the face blind) to take such a portrait album home to learn to distinguish their peers. It is also a popular, hard copy time capsule, of which most parents will be keen to acquire and preserve a print. Photo booklets start from £5.99 (plus delivery). Photographic paper photobooks start from £21.95 (plus delivery).

The photo calendar is the perfect gift for 2015

Weeks used to pass between the moment of taking a picture to being able to show that snap to friends; in the age of Facebook, Pinterest and Flickr, it only takes a few seconds. More and more pictures spread faster and faster. Critics fear that good shots will be lost in the flood of images and not be preserved for future generations.

Photo calendars
Pictures, books and music in digital format can be distributed cheaply and quickly, but when it comes to presenting digital goods as a gift one is literally empty-handed. The printed image, as a canvas, gallery poster or photo book is therefore still very popular indeed. But during the run-up to Christmas and the New Year it is the printed photo calendar which tops the list of gift ideas.

The advantages of the printed image are clear to the eye Those who assemble an annual selection of the best pictures in a photo book will still be able to enjoy colourful memories of the most beautiful moments decades later. Calendars with space for pictures for each of the twelve months and a photograph for the cover page only require selecting the most interesting pictures of the year once. Thus photo books and photo calendars help to avoid loosing good pictures in the flood of digital images, giving them the special place they deserve.

Something unique to unwrap, touch and display
Photo wall calendars
Creative and personal gifts, which show the recipient the effort spent in selecting or designing such a display of affection, are consistently receiving greater esteem than gifts bought off the shelf.

FotoInsight webshop offers photo calendars on silk-matt or glossy print paper or photographic paper, in various sizes up to A2, as desk top or wall calendars or personal organiser with weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual calendar templates. They make ideal gifts as individual family, birthday, kitchen or decorative calendars. At prices between £10 and £35 there is a photo calendar model for everyone and every use e at http://fotoinsight.co.uk/photo-calendars.html.

Photographic paper calendars withstanding the magnifying glass test!

Cambridge. 8 Nov. 2011. - The advantages of true photographic paper are evident at first glance: bright colours and very high detail reproduced on considerably stronger paper. As lab processed photographic paper is exposed without printing grids, printing dots will not be found, not even with a magnifying glass. This leads to a more balanced colour reproduction and sharper detail. That way, anyone can create their own photographic calendars in professional print quality with bright colours, even as a one off print.

FotoInsight’s Managing Director Klaas Brumann says about the use of silk matt photographic paper in photo albums and personalised calendars: "If high quality prints are required, you can only achieve a corresponding print through the exposure on real photographic paper. FotoInsight is a quality printer and raises the bar every year."

Britain's largest range of photo calendars

The online photo service FotoInsight has been offering one of the widest ranges of photo calendars for many years, now FotoInsight increases the range with six new calendars on photographic paper.

How to design a photo calendar on photographic paper?

At FotoInsight there are two ways to design a photo calendar. The easiest way to quickly create a personal calendar is directly in the webbrowser on Fotoinsight’s the website. It requires no software to be installed, and there are a large number of formats and calendars to choose from. Users who want more control over the design of the photo calendar or those who would like to create different variants of a calendar layout should use the free FotoInsight Designer application:

  1. Choose a calendar format and size and consider the orientation: Square, portrait or landscape from http://fotoinsight.co.uk/calendars.html
  2. Select the starting month and year.
  3. Choose the calendar page and layout, add images and change backgrounds as preferred. There is no limit to the number of pictures per page and it even allows to create picture collage on calendar pages. A nice personal touch is created by adding additional passport size photos at birthdays and wedding anniversaries.
  4. Upload own photo calendar design.
  5. After logging in choose the payment form and order a calendar print with the option to have it shipped to a separate delivery address, for example as a gift.

The software can be used offline and an Internet connection is not required during the design process. The calendar print file will be compressed to the optimum size before transmission to the print server without sacrificing quality.

New: High-gloss Photo Calendars

For five years Printing-1 has been offering its customers the opportunity to create their personalized photo books. In addition to canvas prints, photo books and photo book calendars, Printing-1 is now offering wall calendars with an optional high-gloss finish. For the high-gloss option, the calendar’s pages are sealed with an environmentally friendly gloss coating that gives the images brilliance and sharpness in every detail.

Gloss

For the glossy option, each calendar page will be sealed after the digital print with a glossy, protective coating. This UV varnish improves the appearance and colour brilliance, coming close to the quality of photographic prints, without using temperature-sensitive PE photo paper.

Environmentally friendly gloss on photo calendars

Customers can choose from eight different photo calendar formats. Thanks to the “glossy” option, the picture surface is protected from wear and fading, which ensures a long life for the calendar images and memories. Those using the glossy option can do this with a good environmental conscience, because the direct digital printing doesn’t use chemically developed PE photo paper; and the materials and processes used have been scrutinized under the environmental management norm ISO 14001 *.

Introductory offer:

For those who want to review the photo calendars there is an additional incentive, because Printing-1 introduces its new photo calendars with £10 off on the first order. The coupon code "PRIXUK" is valid on the goods ordered by new customers till 30/10/2011.

How to create a photo calendar?

Printing-1 photo calendars have a page for each month and a cover sheet. With thirteen or more digital images, creating an individual photo calendar takes just five simple steps:

  1. Select the calendar format: portrait, landscape or square. At Printing-1 the size can still be increased or reduced later.
  2. Choose the starting month and year.
  3. Select the calendar template and layout, insert images and choose background colours. Inserting small portrait pictures on birthdays gives a nice personal touch.
  4. Upload the photo calendar design to the Printing-1 server.
  5. Log into the online account with Printing-1 to share with friends with an individual access to the photo calendar (or photo book) layout by email, where they can order copies at their own expense if they wish. From the online account, photo calendar prints can be ordered at any time.

Photo book specialist

Printing-1 offers a Windows and MacOS compatible online photo service, which can be used with images from any digital camera and specialises in photo books, calendars and canvas prints. The professional printing processes allow Printing-1 to produce photo books in "pocket" format with ring-or laminated binding from 7,95 €. The postage is £ 4.90 for the UK, Ireland, Europe and the USA. Between the Pocket and the Premium (40x30 cm) sizes, Printing-1 offers another five intermediate formats with up to 250 pages. The costs for the gloss-finish option are 30 pence per page on the large ‘Photo Book Maxi’ (30x30 cm).

A product innovation for increased colour intensity in photobooks

FotoInsight launches its hi-gloss photobooks today. The new glossy finish is a product innovation producing more intense colours and crisp pictures. High gloss photobooks are treated with a protective varnish.

Cambridge. 14 March 2011. - FotoInsight broadens its range of photo books with shine. Unlike some glossy photobooks simply produced on glossy paper, FotoInsight’s new hi-gloss is achieved by applying a protective coating to the photo book pages. In an additional step at the end of the print process a PU varnish will be heat-treated, achieving an even, durable hi-gloss finish, producing brilliant, shiny colours.

The individual design and order process follows the same familiar steps as already known from FotoInsight’s Designer software. The high gloss finish is available in the glossy photobook formats Panorama and XL. The extra cost for the hi-gloss finish on the 26 page A4 Panorama photo book is £6.20.

The Environmentally Friendly Choice

Hi-gloss photo books are available in the formats Large Panorama (about A4) and XL (about 12” x 12”) with 26 to 154 pages (in increments of 8 pages). Every FotoInsight photobook is printed on paper produced under the guidelines for sustainable forestry.

Bespoke photobooks are as durable as coffee table photo books from book shops. All materials used are subject to extensive testing and are guaranteed by their manufacturers to last 100 years. The glossy finish not only looks better, it also protects the photobook pages’ surface.

FotoInsight’s Managing Director Klaas Brumann comments on the new high gloss photobooks: “In addition to printed photo books and photo albums on photographic paper all produced at market leading print resolution of 300 dpi, FotoInsight offers now the hi-gloss finish on the most popular photo book formats. Ideal for anyone in search of a glossy, coffee table style photobook. Among hundreds of sizes and formats with different finishes and page numbers ranging form 26 to 154 pages per book there is a photo book format for every budget and occasion.

FotoInsight's New Photo Paper Book Makes Book Bulge Disappear

Today FotoInsight launches a new version of FotoInsight Designer with new lines of photo albums on photographic paper, new features like fading frames and festive templates and the addition of Linux and Mac OS versions.

Cambridge, 20 August 2009. - Europe's most popular photo book software is now also available for Linux and Mac OS. Against an ever growing number of photo book services, FotoInsight is increasing its technological lead with the introduction of version 4.5 of FotoInsight Designer. The application is available as a free download on the photo service's website and it can create a 130 page photo book lay-out in under three minutes. The new release of the order software adds photo albums processed on thick, lustre finish photographic paper pages. The new photo paper album styles ranging from 26 to 82 pages (in steps of eight pages) are only available in the FotoInsight Designer software.

In FotoInsight's new Photo Paper Album each page lies flat

FotoInsight states that the book bulge in the new photo paper albums disappear, as the pages lay flat when the book is opened 180 degrees wide. A new binding process is being used for the album pages, which are thicker than pages in CEWE Photobooks. This allows the pages in an open photo paper album to lay flat, rather than bowing or arching up towards the spine. Flat pages make it easier to view images which spread across a double page. FotoInsight's Managing Director Klaas Brumann states: "The new printed photo album's thicker pages provide a premium feel over traditional coffee table style photo books. We expect the new photographic paper books to be popular with professional users and for wedding photo books!"

New Photo Albums on photographic paper:

- Photo Book Square (21 x 21 cm) from € 29.95 / £ 24.99.
- Photo Book Large landscape, (28 x 21 cm).
- Photo Book XL (30 x 30 cm)

Mac OS and Linux, too

Compatible with Windows XP, Linux and Mac operating system 10.5 Leopard and above, version 4.5 of the FotoInsight Designer software is now available to download from the FotoInsight website. The software upgrade sees greater functionality for editing, sorting and arranging photos, as well as for creating personalised photo gifts that preserve photographic memories.

Image layering and blend-in image masks

According to FotoInsight: "layering images in any order or position has been one of the outstanding features of its Designer software for photo books. With the new software upgrade a range of different shapes or blend-in image masks can be used as image frames. There are also plenty of new frames and clipart to decorate photo gifts for Christmas, school, wedding and other themes.

Back to school promotion.

FotoInsight offers photo gift products to equip children in the new school year with notepads, animal key chains, messenger bags, aluminium water bottles and other product with own photographs. The firm is backing up it's back to school promotion with a three for the price of two offer on spiral bound photo notepads. The voucher code is BACK2SCHOOL (valid until 31 August 2009).

FotoInsight starts the Calendar 2008 Season with new, larger Photo Calendars

A professionally printed calendar with own digital images must rank among the most convenient personalised gift ideas among for friends and family. A UK photo service is expanding this idea with a greater choice of calendars.

FotoInsight is growing and the size of its photo print products seems to grow with the company. Posters, canvas printing and the photo book XL format are now followed by a new, larger photo calendar format. The largest photographic calendar is exclusive to the FotoInsight Pro software; the use of an offline ordering software client became necessary to ensure a safe upload of larger images to the lab. With the FotoInsight Pro photo calendar and photo book software comes a range of editing tools, which internet browser could not handle. Editing the calendar through a special software tool allows for example to freely position any number of images on a single page. This is useful when a event should be enhanced by scanned holiday memories, like entrance tickets, postcards or maps – these can now be integrated into a professionally printed photo calendar. The increase in design flexibility follows requests from customers, ordering personalised photo calendars year after year for friends and family.

The resolution of digital images is constantly increasing and professional laboratories now achieve super sharp prints in large formats. “With the improvements in digital cameras it started making sense to offer larger photo calendars”, says FotoInsight’s Managing Director Klaas Brumann and adds: “We do not limit the print area for images on the monthly calendar page. Photos can cover the whole page and the calendar template can be layered over images.

The number of photos taken has been increasing sharply, with the share of those being printed dropping constantly. With the technological advancements in screens and photo-sharing the user prints special images for special occasions; quality expectations towards print products and photo gifts are on the rise. Photo calendar print from digital images is ‘the fashion’. A photographic calendar ordered through the online service FotoInsight, gets printed on the latest generation of Indigo printing equipment. In this process so called ElectroInk, with particles 1µm to 2µm small, is applied. The reduced particle size of the toner creates a higher perceived resolution of the printed image, cleaner edges and finer, finer, more adherent layers than traditional printing methods.

Sticking in is so yesteryear – today it’s professionally printed calendars

FotoInsight is updating it’s photographic calendar range just in time for the year-end gift shopping season, with photo gifts made from the users own digital images, which the online service delivers professionally printed on 250 g/m² paper. Instead of sticking images in, digital image files allow for an individual design and professional print, on a variety of personalised gifts like photo mugs, shirts or photobooks. FotoInsight’s Managing Director comments “FotoInsight specialises in photographic gift items. The new generation of photo calendars will resolve many people’s problems in finding unique gift ideas.”
