ObviousIdea! with New Ideas!

ObviousIdea! is a new Internet business created in 2011 by one of the founders of VSO-Software SARL, to develop and promote personal computer software, web services and mobile applications.

Toulouse. 21 March 2011. - After months of discussion, ObviousIdea! is finally announcing the sale of its shares in VSO-Software SARL, another software publisher based in Toulouse, which provides popular software with a global customer base particularly in the fields of  file conversion and DVD recording applications.

Why this news is important for ObviousIdea! ?
The completed deal is equivalent to a US$700,000 first round fund raising in cash for the new venture, but it also includes a catalog of popular software products from VSO-Software and their corresponding database of registered users. This database of users and products will help to introduce new projects as upgrades become available. Fabrice Meuwissen, the CEO and founder of ObviousIdea!, previously shareholder and CEO of VSO-Software states: “the agreement reached makes me very confident for the future of our new venture, as the most difficult task is to build a brand and a community of users”.

Investments in start-ups and new companies
Serial entrepreneur Fabrice Meuwissen is planning to invest in start-ups and new companies. “As I won’t be able to spend all the money available in my new venture, I want to give some of it back to the community to help others, like I would have appreciated to be helped myself”, says Mr Meuwissen, “Toulouse has France’s largest University and a lively hi-tech scene. It’s something I am already doing here as a business angel, but with the web traffic of our new ventures I will be able to help both with money and online exposure”.

ObviousIdea!’s aim is to be a consumer centric company, users will participate actively in the life of software products, suggesting new features, deciding where and how to implement the action and services. “I am sick of companies whose support staff don’t bother to react to suggestions customers make by email, if you are lucky enough to receive a reply at all” says Mr Meuwissen: “It is something so easy to set up with social networks and specialized tools such as Uservoice, or SnapEngage. You need to engage the user in every process of your company if you want to be successful, however many millions you may have in your bank account”.

Recruitment drive
But… ObviousIdea! is already facing a challenge, which is to build a larger team of developers ( php, jquery, html5, .net, Delphi, css guru ), community managers, and enthusiasts. The new company owner states that the biggest issue for now will be to recruit to be sure the new projects will be released on time.

About ObviousIdea!
ObviousIdea! was founded in 2011 as a breakaway from VSO Software SARL. It holds a portfolio of popular software applications in the areas of GPS, photography, photo sharing, compression and web communities. ObviousIdea! was founded by Fabrice Meuwissen, who is a usability expert and consultant in Strategic Marketing graduated from Stanford University in 2010. Fabrice was previously Product manager in a Text-To-Speech company and partnership manager in a international e-commerce solution for Mac OS.

A product innovation for increased colour intensity in photobooks

FotoInsight launches its hi-gloss photobooks today. The new glossy finish is a product innovation producing more intense colours and crisp pictures. High gloss photobooks are treated with a protective varnish.

Cambridge. 14 March 2011. - FotoInsight broadens its range of photo books with shine. Unlike some glossy photobooks simply produced on glossy paper, FotoInsight’s new hi-gloss is achieved by applying a protective coating to the photo book pages. In an additional step at the end of the print process a PU varnish will be heat-treated, achieving an even, durable hi-gloss finish, producing brilliant, shiny colours.

The individual design and order process follows the same familiar steps as already known from FotoInsight’s Designer software. The high gloss finish is available in the glossy photobook formats Panorama and XL. The extra cost for the hi-gloss finish on the 26 page A4 Panorama photo book is £6.20.

The Environmentally Friendly Choice

Hi-gloss photo books are available in the formats Large Panorama (about A4) and XL (about 12” x 12”) with 26 to 154 pages (in increments of 8 pages). Every FotoInsight photobook is printed on paper produced under the guidelines for sustainable forestry.

Bespoke photobooks are as durable as coffee table photo books from book shops. All materials used are subject to extensive testing and are guaranteed by their manufacturers to last 100 years. The glossy finish not only looks better, it also protects the photobook pages’ surface.

FotoInsight’s Managing Director Klaas Brumann comments on the new high gloss photobooks: “In addition to printed photo books and photo albums on photographic paper all produced at market leading print resolution of 300 dpi, FotoInsight offers now the hi-gloss finish on the most popular photo book formats. Ideal for anyone in search of a glossy, coffee table style photobook. Among hundreds of sizes and formats with different finishes and page numbers ranging form 26 to 154 pages per book there is a photo book format for every budget and occasion.

New Photo Calendar Models Arriving

Cambridge. 9/DEC/2010. - FotoInsight is launching a new website in ecember to improve the online in-browser design experience for photo calendars. In the new website, Fotoinsight’s customers will be able to create individual photo calendars without having to download additional software. With this development come also new photo calendars on photo paper.

Calendars on photographic paper

Photographic paper has come a long way over the past two hundred years. Quality photographic paper offers sharp details, brilliant, true colours and proven longevity.

The new range of calendars on photographic paper is comprehensive, ranging from a desktop calendar with CD case size display for £9.99 to the practical A4 wall calendar and a new 30×30cm (12"×12") square format to the known A3 photo calendar. The photo calendars in A3 are now available not just in portrait format, but as an A3 landscape photo calendar. For those who want their pictures to be big, there’s the new A2 photo calendar size 40.6×60.9cm (16"×24").

Large photo calendar A2 landscape

So far FotoInsight’s photo calendar range has covered everything from desktop calendars, practical kitchen calendars, and compact A4 format to A3 wall calendars. Now FotoInsight goes one larger with the A2 wall appointment calendar. This new calendar is 59.4×42cm (23½"×16½") large and offers more space for pictures and notes. FotoInsight’s Managing Director says about the A2 landscape photo calendar: “With this large photo calendar everyone has the opportunity to make individual calendars which will exceed professionally mass produced calendars from a bookshop in quality, brilliance and durability.”

A new gift idea: Name calendars

Name calendars are a great gift idea for any opportunity like as a Christmas present, on birthdays or as a name-day gift idea. His or her name will come in a different picture every month.

The integrated name feature creates personalised name calendars within minutes. Simply add a name - a picture for each month with the name drawn in will be automatically personalised. Modern computer technology will seamlessly integrate the name into each of the twelve months’ pictures creating a unique, personalised calendar gift.

Dedicated to a name!

Thanks to the different materials and many sizes, shapes, formats and calendar templates available there should be a calendar suitable for each space or occasion. Photo calendars are a great gift idea all year around, as the user can set the starting month freely. Therefore calendars can run along the academic year or from Mother’s Day to Mother’s Day.

FotoInsight announces new "Designer v.4.6" Photo Book Software at Photokina.

Every other year in September representatives from the world of photography come together at Photokina in Cologne, for the world's most important photographic fair. The leading players in the imaging industry's fastest growing segment - photo books - are getting ready to showcase their latest developments. FotoInsight announces a major upgrade to its "Designer" software for CEWE PHOTO BOOKS.

Cologne, 21/09/2010. - To provide space where the favourite photographs can shine, photo book services like FotoInsight are constantly improving their software and their range. The latest FotoInsight Designer software upgrade incorporates many suggestions from a SirValuse Usability study and features apart from an enhanced navigation many new tools.

Automatic photo book size conversion
Until recently, when designing a CEWE PHOTO BOOK, it could only be ordered in the same size. The new FotoInsight Designer can now convert CEWE PHOTO BOOK layouts from one size into another of the same shape. For example, from a square Photo Book XL in size 12" x 12" (30 x 30 cm), users can now get a smaller square size 8" x 8" (20 x 20 cm) or a larger square size 16" x 16" (40 x 40 cm), adjusted automatically based on the original layout. The same can be done to photo books in portrait or panorama format.

The photo book editor in the new FotoInsight Designer software upgrade now saves (caches) changes automatically, so that progress made can't get lost during the design process. That is important, as photo books are getting ever larger and bigger. The upgrade features the large CEWE PHOTO BOOK XXL Panorama (42 x 30 cm) with a padded cover in real leather. For a stronger bind the large panorama pages are specially folded into the cover bind.

Editing Assistant now recognizes human faces

The software upgrade will be shown at Photokina and will be launched as a free download from October 2010. Its Layout Assistant has been improved and can now recognise faces. That way the automatic layout assistant can now avoid covering faces on photographs. Users will also be able to create custom CEWE PHOTO BOOK Layout-Styles, for the Assistant to use when creating automatic photo book layouts.

New photographic calendars, new features

For demanding photographers wanting to create large calendars FotoInsight is now adding the size A3 photo calendar also in panorama format. Photo calendars on real photographic paper can also be designed in FotoInsight Designer v.4.6. Real photographic paper developed in a professional photo lab guarantees brilliant colours and superior durability.
The colour schemes of the application's calendar templates received a make-over and the application can now also display bank holidays in photo calendars.

More photo gifts

The software upgrade also features the option to choose the pages in spiral-bound photo cover note pads (A5 and A4) with the option of lined or graph paper. In general FotoInsight is increasing the user's choice. For example it is now possible to give each greeting card in a set of greeting cards an individual design.

The Managing Director of FotoInsight Klaas Brumann comments: "The new photo calendars on photographic paper and the new CEWE PHOTO BOOK XXL Panorama provide an impressive environment to preserve the favourite pictures from holidays and events in shiny quality. Books can be accessed at any time. Unlike videos and images on digital media there will never be compatibility problems with future digital standards. With your FotoInsight Photo Book simply turn the pages and enjoy, now and in a hundred years."

FotoInsight's New Photo Paper Book Makes Book Bulge Disappear

Today FotoInsight launches a new version of FotoInsight Designer with new lines of photo albums on photographic paper, new features like fading frames and festive templates and the addition of Linux and Mac OS versions.

Cambridge, 20 August 2009. - Europe's most popular photo book software is now also available for Linux and Mac OS. Against an ever growing number of photo book services, FotoInsight is increasing its technological lead with the introduction of version 4.5 of FotoInsight Designer. The application is available as a free download on the photo service's website and it can create a 130 page photo book lay-out in under three minutes. The new release of the order software adds photo albums processed on thick, lustre finish photographic paper pages. The new photo paper album styles ranging from 26 to 82 pages (in steps of eight pages) are only available in the FotoInsight Designer software.

In FotoInsight's new Photo Paper Album each page lies flat

FotoInsight states that the book bulge in the new photo paper albums disappear, as the pages lay flat when the book is opened 180 degrees wide. A new binding process is being used for the album pages, which are thicker than pages in CEWE Photobooks. This allows the pages in an open photo paper album to lay flat, rather than bowing or arching up towards the spine. Flat pages make it easier to view images which spread across a double page. FotoInsight's Managing Director Klaas Brumann states: "The new printed photo album's thicker pages provide a premium feel over traditional coffee table style photo books. We expect the new photographic paper books to be popular with professional users and for wedding photo books!"

New Photo Albums on photographic paper:

- Photo Book Square (21 x 21 cm) from € 29.95 / £ 24.99.
- Photo Book Large landscape, (28 x 21 cm).
- Photo Book XL (30 x 30 cm)

Mac OS and Linux, too

Compatible with Windows XP, Linux and Mac operating system 10.5 Leopard and above, version 4.5 of the FotoInsight Designer software is now available to download from the FotoInsight website. The software upgrade sees greater functionality for editing, sorting and arranging photos, as well as for creating personalised photo gifts that preserve photographic memories.

Image layering and blend-in image masks

According to FotoInsight: "layering images in any order or position has been one of the outstanding features of its Designer software for photo books. With the new software upgrade a range of different shapes or blend-in image masks can be used as image frames. There are also plenty of new frames and clipart to decorate photo gifts for Christmas, school, wedding and other themes.

Back to school promotion.

FotoInsight offers photo gift products to equip children in the new school year with notepads, animal key chains, messenger bags, aluminium water bottles and other product with own photographs. The firm is backing up it's back to school promotion with a three for the price of two offer on spiral bound photo notepads. The voucher code is BACK2SCHOOL (valid until 31 August 2009).

lexican 3: The Software for Knowledge Workers

Easy to use authoring tool to collect, store, organise and publish information.

Washington. June 24th, 2009. - vetafab Software is releasing a new version of it's Windows application lexiCan. According to the developer, the upgrade improves productivity and collaboration. Individuals and teams use lexiCan to manage information and knowledge for projects, in business management, research and idea gathering. The developer is also introducing a new read only client lexiCan Reader, which allows users to publish content such as guides, manuals, references, support data bases, knowledge bases within a network with one click, making publishing as easy as editing. The software remains simple, no special training is required.

Similar to a personal Wikipedia, lexiCan allows users to build articles using texts, pictures, tables, links to websites and files. Using the title as a reference, articles can be accessed in seconds even in voluminous collections, overcoming the daily burden of clicking through folder hierarchies as done in Windows Explorer. Unlike Wikipedia, lexiCan purely works as a desktop application based on Microsoft .NET framework, enabling user convenience, such as setting links per drag and drop or dropping emails from Outlook into a description. lexiCan features full text search that includes embedded files. The developer points at several other intuitive retrieval features, like an automated view on pictures, embedded files and tags. Articles can have multiple tags which lexiCan displays as a list or clout. The article tree can be structured in the application's Outline section.

Günther Eufinger, Managing Director of vetafab Software GmbH, says about lexiCan: "Scientists organise research projects and research material; students structure material collections, essays and gather excerpts; project managers compile manuals and glossaries; journalists, authors and other creative minds implement lexiCan for their concepts and idea gathering; consultants use it to accumulate information and to document projects. We are so confident that people will use lexiCan extensively, that we are giving away free versions for up to 30 articles per project, with no time limit, no advertising and all functions included." lexiCan 3.0 collects knowledge in individual articles, linking topics and embeds them in a navigation hierarchy, structuring the different knowledge fields. Mr Eufinger adds: "The free application is the opportunity to end data chaos, and to quickly and easily create a professional knowledge network."

Central Library

lexiCan is a tool designed to link and organise data files (text, image, etc) in topics and knowledge areas. The developer's of lexiCan point out, that the application's information organisation and retrieval ability saves the user time and money, at home as well as in business.

Vetafab Software GmbH launches lexiCan 3 in English

The latest lexiCan upgrade improves collaboration among lexiCan users. The application now allows to share knowledge fields on demand and reintegrate subjects. The inclusion of additional data formats make importing, exporting and adding or sharing knowledge content more flexible. "As lexiCan's user base in business is growing", states Günther Eufinger, "we worked on making teamwork effortless." The screen view can now be zoomed freely, to improve the viewing experience when used in presentations with a projector. The new read only client "lexiCan Reader" allows knowledge distribution across a company network, e.g. instructions, course material, faqs, manuals.

Availability and system requirements

lexiCan is available for Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and Vista. The standard edition for up to 30 articles per project is available as a free download from www.lexican.net and can be used with no time limit (no personal data required, no advertising). The lexiCan Pro Edition license can be acquired online for US$ 49.90.

About lexiCan

lexiCan is an innovative knowledge management software developed by vetafab Software GmbH of Darmstadt, Germany. The application is a tool for collecting large amounts of information about particular issues for projects in the form of knowledge networks, to structure the information, set knowledge links, bookmarks and evaluate articles to make a body of knowledge more usable and useful. The first version of lexiCan was launched in Germany in 2006 and is expanding globally. Thousands of people use lexiCan in different ways and for different reasons - for project documentation, writing manuals or for internal knowledge management in companies and other purposes.

FotoInsight launches "FotoInsight Designer v.4.5" now also for Mac OS and Linux.

Photo sharing from Flickr, Facebook, Picasa and geotagging site "locr" come to personal printed photo albums. Today FotoInsight launches a new version of FotoInsight Designer with new photo book formats and new features like fading frames and festive templates.

Cambridge, 17 March 2009. - Against an ever increasing number of photo book services, FotoInsight is increasing its technological lead with the introduction of version 4.5 of FotoInsight Designer, which is now also available for Linux and Mac. The ease at which photos can freely be inserted into the book or into templates now also extends to clipart, maps, text and images from photo sharing sites like Flickr as well as the geotagging site "locr" and Wikipedia GeoNames. The photo sharing sites become an online interface for photo book building with family and friends, as users can now complement their printed photo albums with additional pictures (e.g. the Eiffel Tower form a different angle) from photo sharing sites, straight from within the FotoInsight Designer software.

Geotagging and Photosharing

In addition, with just a mouse click pictures used in a photo calendar or photo book project in FotoInsight Designer 4.5 can be uploaded to the geotagging photo community "locr". The other way around, aerial shots and maps from the geotagging community will come handy for comprehensive information of the locality in a personal travel book. "locr GmbH's" Managing Director Malte Schloen states: “The collaboration between the FotoInsight Photo Book service and locr as a geotagging and information sharing site combines two innovative leaders to the benefit of users. Geotagging communities like 'locr' free internet users from Ordnance Survey's outdated geographic information monopoly.” FotoInsight's Managing Director Klaas Brumann adds: “We are so excited that our software tool for photo book design now integrates a gateway into shared photos and geographic information and online photo sharing, that we are already working on extending the range of photo sharing sites to also include Facebook and Picasa in the following release later this year.

Travel Diaries

For geotagged images the new software can load corresponding local information straight from "locr" or Wikipedia into the photo book. Creating area maps takes just a click. FotoInsight's Head of Communication Catalina Martínez states: “It has never been easier to write comprehensive travel diaries or even your own travel guide.” Using geotagging applications for photos or tagging the location information manually opens a new world of opportunity to relate images with locality information.

Image Layering and Blend-in Image Masks

According to Andrew White, Internet Sales Manager at FotoInsight print partner CEWE Color Ltd.: " layering images in any order or position has been one of the outstanding features of its Designer software for photo books". With the new software upgrade a range of different shapes or blend-in image masks can be used as image frames. There are also plenty of new frames and clipart to decorate photo gifts for Mothering Sunday, Easter, Father's Day etc.

New Panorama Format

After extending its range with the Photo Book XXL with editable hardcover in portrait format (H36 x 28 cm) and in faux leather with traditional screw bind in panoramic format (H30 x W42 cm) last year, FotoInsight now adds an A4 panorama size (H28 x W21 cm). FotoInsight's print resolution of 360 dpi produces crisp panorama images spreading across double pages up to 84 cm wide.

In Time for the Easter holidays

The Easter holiday photographs are a great opportunity to try the new FotoInsight Designer features, printing photographic memories. Therefore FotoInsight offers 10% off all photo canvas print (voucher CNV1) and a square photo book (21 x 21 cm) for £10 (saving £4.99; voucher code PBSS1C, expires 30 April 2009).

Multi-touch comes to photo services

Internet specialist ECCE TERRAM exhibits ground breaking innovative software solutions at PMA in Las Vegas – Booth # Q176-4

San Francisco, CA and Oldenburg, Germany. February 13, 2009. - ECCE TERRAM – the innovator and provider of solutions for the digital photo market – will be showcasing its expanded software solution for photo laboratories in the area of ordering programs at the PMA 2009; Along with the 2.0 version of the “iPhone Photo Order Client,” the first Offline Client solution for PC with multi-touch capability is being presented among other things. The company thus again raises the claim of presenting technically sophisticated and innovative solutions.

In many laboratories, online photo orders in which digital images are printed on traditional photographic paper exceeded the volume of analogue photos in 2008. Digital image processing continues to be a vigorously growing industry. Numbers from the 2008 Holiday Season retail trade in many places show that the economic crisis ihas n no way dampened the pleasure provided by digital images. Consumers’ desire for unique moments or very personal photo gifts remains strong. Very few software developers have the experience and knowledge to create a complete solution – from consumer to production, for wholesale laboratories and photo services in the online and in-store market. ECCE TERRAM’s experience uniquely serves these end to end requirements.

The Internet specialist ECCE TERRAM is presenting the new versions of its components at the PMA, the the US photo imaging association's international exhibition in Las Vegas on March 3-5, 2009.

Consistently further developing what is tried and tested: iPhone2home 2.0

In February 2008 at PMA 2008, ECCE TERRAM present the first software solution to allow photo products to be ordered from the iPhone. Version 2.0, available in March, 2009, will expand user guidance in several ways. In particular, the order transmission efficiency was optimized through the introduction of the “TRONProxy.” With a protocol optimized to mobile radio, the orders for postcards or mini-photo books (10x15 cm) are conveyed to the “Photo2lab middleware.” Likewise, the iPhone 3G is now supported with its firmware version 2.2. The iPhone2home 2.0 Client is supported by all official iPhone versions and is provided by ECCE TERRAM to photo labs to broaden their range of order method options.

Get in touch with your customers”

With Version 4.6, ECCE TERRAM will present the latest version of its offline client., which includes support for new photo book products, for collages, photo gifts and other merchandise. Among other features, support for “multi-touch PCs” is also being introduced.

Multi touch has recently gained importance, as Microsoft Windows 7 introduces support for multi-touch; and many new PC systems, laptops and netbooks with multi-touch screens have been launched at the consumer electronics show in Las Vegas. Photo2lab solution's lead in innovation thus once again proves to be confirmed, because since autumn 2008 there has been work on multi-touch support, e.g., for the creation of photo books. The first version is now also being presented at the PMA conference and show on March 3-5, 2009.

More intuitive interface = greater success

The advantage of multi-touch lies in a simpler and more intuitive interface for the end user, leading to a higher rate of succesfully completed orders for photo labs. With iPhone and the Offline Clients, ECCE TERRAM offers the first applications under the logo of “Get in touch with your customer” which will be supplemented in 2009 by a kiosk system with multi-touch capability.

For questions regarding the products presented at the PMA, please visit us at Booth #Q176-4 or contact at 1-408 807-0917.

FotoInsight launches new "FotoInsight Designer v.4" photo book software.

Even Larger Books with own Photographs

The leading players in the imaging industry's fastest growing segment - Photo Books - are getting ready to showcase their latest developments. FotoInsight announces a upgrade to its "Designer" software and new, even larger Photo Books.

To provide space in which the favourite photographs can shine, photo book services like FotoInsight Ltd are constantly improving their software and their range. So far, most books printed with own photographs are limited to less than 100 pages. With the upcoming version 4 of FotoInsight Designer its photo books can feature up to 130 pages for the first time. After introducing the XL Photo Books (12"x12" / 30x30 cm) last year the software upgrade will add a new XXL Photobook format (H12"x16" / H30xW42 cm) in stylish faux leather and with a traditional screw bound. In the new XXL format landscapes can be spread over 80 cm wide double pages. For this, FotoInsight is increasing the print resolution to 360 dpi.

The software upgrade announced for the UK Retail Imaging Show has finally been launched. The clever 'Assistant' in the FotoInsight Designer photo book software will then be able to design a 130 page extra large photo book in under three minutes, For this the application automatically lays out the pages with the chosen images and can put these in order of date, file name or event.

When designing a photobook page by page hundreds of templates in the free software help to position images. A "Help Grid" can be turned on in the application's editor window to provide optical guiding in positioning photographs and text. The size of the grid can be changed and the application can make pictures stick to the grid lines. An even finer positioning can be achieved by zooming into the editor.

Any picture can go without, with a standard or an individual frame to set the photo apart from the background or layered images. Text can be written on any part of any page or it can be copied and pasted from a word processor or other application. This ensures that names and dates can be recorded and the text of for example a wedding speech can live on for future generations.

Repeat Orders

Once the photo book of a holiday or party arrives everyone is cheering and many want their own copy. With the new release arrives what many regular FotoInsight customers have been asking for: the re-ordering option. During six weeks after an order a photo book can be re-ordered without having to upload the layout again. Photobooks ordered by the 16th of December should be delivered in time for Christmas.

The Managing Director of FotoInsight Klaas Brumann comments: "The larger formats XL and the new XXL provide the space to preserve the favourite pictures from holidays and events in shiny quality. Books can be accessed at any time. Unlike videos and images on digital media there will never be compatibility problems with future digital standards. With your FotoInsight Photobook simply turn the pages and enjoy, now and in a hundred years."

Political Stock Market launched for the elections in New Zealand

Paraparaumu. 21 May 2008 - Political Stock Markets are a virtual stock market, where participants express their expectations about future events through the buying and selling of virtual shares. Several prediction markets relating to different issues about economic and political developments are offered together. The new service starts under http://esm.forecast4u.co.nz/ with topics like the National Elections in New Zealand or the Estimation of Property Growth for June 2008.

The "Wisdom of Crowds" is considered to outperform expert knowledge in areas like topicality as well as width, depth and references of knowledge. A principle of prediction markets, as of any electronic exchange, is that those who buy cheap and sell at a higher price benefit.

Practical evidence suggests that prediction markets are at least as accurate in forecasting events as other instruments used by polling institutes on similar demographic groups. This concept, part of a field of study called collective intelligence, is the ideal tool for market and event forecasts. The closer a participant's forecast matches the real event, the more the value of the virtual account rises. This stimulates forward strategies and therefore using quality information and experience in these virtual investments is paramount. The Political Stock Markets also rewards closely matching expectations when dealing with rate fluctuation and diligence.

Electronic Stock Markets (ESM)

The prediction market is based on the "Electronic Stock Market Technology" (ESM) developed by ECCE TERRAM. It is based on theses by Friedrich von Hayek, who in 1974 was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. From Professor von Hayek's findings it derives that more accurate prediction of future events can be made if people trade shares about them with the opportunity to obtain a profit. Frank Simon, Managing Director of ECCE TERRAM: "ESMs in the form of prediction markets provide surprisingly accurate results for opinion research and serve as a prognostics instrument to generate forecasts". The user's interest in trading shares and the chance for personal gain as well as the opportunity to create accurate forecasts bind the user into the online service and increase traffic to the website. The technology starts from a base different to traditional opinion research. Interviews, polls and e-votes use questions like "how would you vote?" The Electronic Stock Markets ask "what do you expect the outcome to be?" Traders therefore buy and sell based on their expectation of the outcome. These reflect in the prices at which shares trade. The system can then, based on the share price, calculate forecasts.

ECCE TERRAM has used prediction markets already in the run up to the German federal elections of 1998 with great success, achieving the second best forecast after Allensbach, one of Germany's leading public opinion poll institutes. In recent years ECCE TERRAM has organised more than two dozen prediction markets on a great variety of events. ECCE TERRAM Ltd, located in Paraparaumu, has started since May 2008 to offer Electronic Stock Markets to the New Zealand and Australian Market based on the 12-year-experience with this tool.

FotoInsight with new Photo Calendar for this Season

Millions of digital images linger on computer hard drives. Online photo processing companies offer convenient ways to get the best images onto paper and into the open. FotoInsight offers a choice of photo calendar layouts which can start any month from now to the end of year 2008. This is a personal photo gift idea not just for Christmas but for the whole year.

Cambridge, Germany. 26 October 2006. – In time for the holiday gift shopping season, FotoInsight of Cambridge launches an innovative way to tailor a photo calendar from the growing number of personal digital photographs. Presenting someone with a personalized, beautifully laid out calendar with own photographs is arguably one of the greatest gift ideas.

Digital camera users can edit their own photo calendar online at http://fotoinsight.co.uk/photo-calendars.html where it will get professionally printed. Available as a wall or desktop calendar, most models cost just £9.99 and don’t require any software to be downloaded. Each calendar runs for twelve months with space for an additional picture on the cover sheet. Customers making wall or desktop calendars can define which month they wish the calendar to start, great for example as a gift for a birthday in November or a wedding anniversary in May.

With the FotoInsight photo calendar print service it only takes minutes to create a complete, personalized, high quality photo calendar using the summer holiday pics or to create a review of the past year. Interested users might want to create an art calendar edited with their own digital pictures. Images can be uploaded through a Windows or Mac internet browser one at a time or all thirteen images as a ZIP or RAR compressed folder in one go. The layout tool allows zooming and adjusting images before getting the calendar printed.

FotoInsight’s calendar choices comprise:

Decorative Calendar:                 Image W14 x H10.5cm (measures 21x25,5cm)        £9.99

Desk Top Time Planner:             Image W14 x H10.5cm (measures 29.7x13cm)        £9.99

Photo Calendar:                        Image W20 x H15cm     (measures 29.7x42cm)      £14.99

Desktop Calendar (on photo paper) Image W8 x H9 cm   (measures 12.5x14.5cm)     £9.99

Postage & packaging for the UK and most European countries is                                                 £2.99

FotoInsight expects photo calendars to become a popular way to preserve memories from a special vacation. These printed memories are ideal to decorate a wall year around with a fresh image every month. “We have done a number of trials to optimize the finish and appearance of the paper. The response to the final results has been phenomenal” comments FotoInsight Ltd Managing Director Klaas Brümann. He adds: “FotoInsight specializes in photographic gift ideas. The new Photo Calendar is set to resolve many people’s headaches over presents for friends and family.”

Convenience and flexibility

FotoInsight offers a PC and Mac compatible, independent online photo service, fully flexible to be used with images from any digital camera. According to FotoInsight’s management the online service offers an extensive array of award-winning photo printing and photo gift ideas and CEWE photo books, photo posters, photographic calendars, photos canvas printing, for the consumer, business, photography, and graphic arts markets. From Cambridge, Mr Brumann comments: “Photographic memories must never fade. Our technology is smarter, providing long lasting prints with superior quality.”

FotoInsight is Preparing FIFA Photo Book for Germany

FotoInsight of Cambridge assured the FIFA photo book product in the world cup host country
Cambridge, UK. 26 April 2006. – This summer will see millions of people worldwide re-arrange their daily routines and work life to squeeze in as much footie as possible! In time for the football world cup Cambridge based FotoInsight is going to launch through its German service an innovative range of CEWE photo books with a FIFA license displaying up to 312 images through its online photo print service. From Cambridge Managing Director Klaas Brumann comments: “Pictures of matches, holidays and parties are fading away in shoeboxes and increasingly on hard drives of aging computers. FotoInsight’s mission is to prevent photographic memories from fading. A printed album, like the upcoming FIFA photobooks, helps to preserve all the memories of a great world cup in order, crisp colours and accessible.

The simplest method of getting a photo album with digital images is printing it. Since late 2005 FotoInsight offers digital camera users a personal photo book from their digital photographs. The personal photo book can be laid with FotoInsight's photo book software in the comfort of the own home.

Volume of photos taken more than tripled

While consumers took an average of 150 photos per year when using analogue cameras, digital camera users are releasing the shutter more than three times as often as the conventional amateur photographer, taking about 470 photos on average. According to FotoInsight, most digital photographers view and select their photos on a home computer. All those digital photos languishing on hard drives could finally see the light of day with the time-saving innovation. The digital photo service FotoInsight states to deliver to 21 European countries within one week of ordering online. Getting luxurious, hardbound, coffee-table style photo books is easy and set to become the latest must-have innovation in photo albums. Once the user has arrived at FotoInsight’s website and has clicked on the photo book icon displayed along side attractive photo calendars, a window appears in the familiar file tree style with text and animated illustrations explaining the upload. The user selects pictures selected through drag and drop directly from the computer. The order of the pictures can be changed after the upload through a range of interactive photo book editing tools. The cost of £19.99 / €27.99 per printed photo book (plus p&p) also includes the option to use online storage for photo sharing in FotoInsight’s online photo album facility one month free.

FotoInsight– Official FIFA World Cup 2006™ photo book for Germany

The Football World Cup will be taking place in Germany as of 7 June 2006. Many friends of the action around the ball will be attending live events to support their national team, join others to watch footie in pubs or at private parties and digital cameras as well as mobile phones will to help to preserve the joy. FotoInsight has assured official, FIFA licensed content to give its customers the chance to stores snapshots in a professional World Cup photo book. Dr. Michael Fries, in charge of the “My CeWe FIFA WM Photo book” at FotoInsight’s production partner comments: “Consumers can not only use their personal snapshots to design their own photo book, football fans will also find professional photos and editorial contributions from more than 100 different theme sections once the site goes live”. Teams, match reports, sketches, the history of the World Cup, information on the venues, etc will be laid out on double pages with emotional photos and detailed reports in a Word Cup design. The World Cup photo book is available in five different versions, starting at €9.95. FotoInsight’s Managing Director Klaas Brumann states “As a company in Cambridge hi-tech cluster we are particularly proud to combine our internet skills with the FIFA content to provide a winning product for the world cup host country” with FotoInsight head of communication, Catalina Martinez adding: “German football fans get the FIFA Photo book, but we are going to score the goals!”

Extension of the product range – hardcover and softcover

The photo book can also be ordered either with a hard cover or with a soft cover, including personal themes for the cover. The photo book is produced with a digital printing process and comes superbly bound. "In 2006, we expect that photo books will account for 35% of FotoInsight’s revenue" states FotoInsight Ltd Managing Director Klaas Brumann and continues: “Photographic memories must never fade. Our technology is smarter, providing long lasting photo book printing in superior quality.”

24 March 2006

FotoInsight's New Digital Photo Software

FotoInsight is making it easier to get real photographic paper prints, greeting cards
CeBIT, Hannover. 23 March 2006. – FotoInsight.co.uk announces the release of its new photo software package called Home Photo Service. According to FotoInsight the application resolves eight common problems of digital photography. During the first three months FotoInsight is distributing free copies off its website: http://fotoinsight.co.uk/designer-software.html

Digital photography’s popularity has already overtaken analogue colour photography. While photographic prints on inkjet printers still lack behind in quality and price the digital format has taken consumers and business users by storm because of the ease and speed at which images can be stored and transferred across networks including the internet. Once the hard disk is filling up with hi-res images FotoInsight’s Home Photo Service software helps to:

1.- escape lack of hard disk space and high storage costs.

2.- back-up photo collections onto CD-R.

3.- edit, turn, flip, crop digital images, remove red eyes and more.

4.- convert image file to jpeg or other formats.

5.- print on real photographic paper at the same prices as with traditional (analogue) photo printing (from 9p per print).

6.- organise image collections and albums and to find images back.

7.- create slide shows of important events or holiday pictures.

8.- be creative: Print photo calendars, frames, greeting cards.

FotoInsight.co.uk’s new “Home Photo Service Software” resolves all of this and makes ordering prints online really easy. If the internet connection is interrupted during transmission the application will automatically try to communicate with the server to start where the upload was interrupted, without user intervention or the risk of loosing of data etc.

Edit, crop, rotate, zoom etc

It currently is free. FotoInsight is introducing the application with no time limit as a free download. But the free download introduction will last three months only, by then FotoInsight hopes the application will have received many commendations and plans to start charging for the software as for any other image editing application. Free copies (Windows PC or Mac) can be downloaded from:

http://fotoinsight.ie/designer-software.html.

FotoInsight’s Managing Director Klaas Brumann comments from Cambridge: “Photographic memories must never fade. FotoInsight is proud to provide the software that will help to preserve memories in vivid colours.”
